Episode 87: Leak Detection with Lance and Brad of Anderson Manufacturing Company
For this episode, we sat down with Lance Anderson and Brad Madison of Anderson Manufacturing Company to discuss all things leak detection. In the late 1940s, Francis Anderson started a radiator repair shop. He later invented rubber expansion plugs to make the leak testing process in radiators easier. In the mid-1980s changes, to the radiator construction and the arrival of replacement radiators cut deeply into plug sales. Francis’ grandson Lance spent some time trying to revive the declining sales, and while doing so, he discovered that several pool companies were actually buying plugs from their local radiator shops to use for pressure testing swimming pool plumbing. By listening to these pioneers, Lance determined that there was an unmet need for both pool professional quality tools and information. This became the company’s new mission, and Lance became driven by helping the pool professional find and fix leaks more efficiently and effectively.
We had the opportunity of going to their factory in Minnesota, where we were able to go through some leak detection training and record this episode with them. Leak detection is a topic that many people have asked for and we believe this episode delivers above and beyond their expectations. During the episode, we discuss symptoms of a leak, what leak detection is exactly, some steps to take to find leaks, and what equipment Anderson offers to help along that process. We love the Anderson team, their culture, and their products, so we are excited for you all to hear this episode. We hope you learn as much as we did!
